Susan Smits, CHMM, TURP, Senior Vice President and Kelly Winson, ASP, CHMM, TURP, Vice President of Environmental Health & Safety, of Mabbett recently  were honored with a 2021 US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA) Honor Award as part of the project team responsible for obtaining a very specialized environmental permit for one of the FDA laboratories.  The permit needed to be issued by a state environmental regulatory agency based on newly implemented regulations before the newly renovated FDA laboratory could operate.  

Mabbett also developed and helped implement a Public Participation Plan and provided in-person support at the required Public Meeting.  The final permit was one of the first of its kind to be issued under the new regulations, and allowed the FDA to continue using all of its laboratories to meet its important public health mission.  In 2017, Mabbett was awarded a five year environmental services blanket purchase agreement (BPA) with FDA to support any of the FDA nationwide facilities.  Mabbett has supported five of the laboratories locations to date with a variety of environmental, health and safety consulting services and is very pleased to be recognized by FDA for the support on this project.
