Personal Touch

Outside of Mabbett I like to spend my time hanging out with my wife, kids, and friends. Nature is near and dear to my heart, so it is not a surprise that I love the outdoors and in turn have a fervent desire to preserve and protect the environment. I grew up very fortunate in that my grandfather, Arthur E. Mabbett Jr., P.E., served as the Chief Electrical Engineer for the reconstruction of the electrical power supply and distribution system for the State of Alaska after the Good Friday earthquake of 1964.  My grandfather took my Dad, Arthur N. Mabbett, up to Alaska also in 1964, where he fell in love with the state, and in turn brought me. I travel to Alaska every few years to go wilderness backpacking and glacier climbing in the largest national park in America (Wrangell-St. Elias). Alaska is the last true wilderness in this great country. This is where my passion for the environment took hold of my heart. Seeing the impact, we have had, as humans, on the environment over the past 30 years in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, and other areas of Alaska and this Country, has helped to guide me to my current career. This gets me to our recently revised Vision statement, “Reducing Humanity’s Negative Impacts on Earth.”  Our planet is our Legacy, let us make sure we leave a good one for future generations.
