Mabbett was recently awarded a contract to support the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) at their Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) facility in Maryland. Mabbett’s engineers and geologists have been tasked to complete two projects supporting BARC’s ongoing Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) program. The assignments include a Five-Year Review (FYR) of an in situ groundwater treatment system for chlorinated VOCs, where our staff will help ARS determine if the installed remediation system is protective of human health and the environment and if it has met its Remedial Action Objectives (RAOs). We will also be assessing the groundwater conditions at a former Low Level Radiological Burial Site (LLRBS) overseen by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to determine if the final site restoration activities can be completed at the BARC facility. This task includes comprehensive sampling of site groundwater for radionuclides of concern (ROCs).

Our team is uniquely qualified to support ARS in this endeavor as our engineers, geologists, and environmental scientists have decades of experience supporting ARS and other USDA services.
